DaraLyn McColl creates and designs Alternative Education Programming within K-5 public schools, assists students with executive functioning skills, and is attaining her Masters in Educational Leadership, holds a K-12 Art Education certification and a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
DaraLyn McColl is also a freelance graphic artist/consultant and private art teacher. She currently resides in Southern Maine, USA. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Auburn University (Ala.) she gained most of her experience through large corporations, non-profit organizations, printing companies, and small business companies. DaraLyn established her freelance services, DLynDesigns™Studio in 2002 and has created collateral for the Dance Studio of Maine (Gorham, Maine), Baptist Health Foundation (Birmingham, Ala.), Gorham Arts Alliance, U.S. Direct Inc., (Whites Creek, Tenn.), Montgomery YMCA (Montgomery, Ala.), The Montgomery Apartment Guide (Montgomery, Ala.), BibBaby (Montgomery, Ala.), Alabama Kidney Foundation (Montgomery, Ala.) Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama (Birmingham, Ala.), Basketball Association of Madison (Madison, Ala.), Montgomery Cancer Center (Montgomery, Ala.), Wells Printing Company (Montgomery, Ala.), and Capital Business Equipment, Inc. (Montgomery, Ala.) to name a few. DaraLyn and her husband John, were married in 1999 and are the proud parents of one daughter and two sons. In August of 2009, the McColl's changed their southern roots for New England. In Maine, DaraLyn quickly became involved within the community by volunteering at the local schools and teaching private art lessons "MinorBrushes™" for all ages in 2010. "It appeared that the Arts were slowly being minimized in public schools, and when researching art lessons in the area the fees seemed extraordinary. So I decided to offer art to children at a much more reasonable rate, including all the supplies, and offer longer sessions.." Mrs. McColl The Arts play a vital role in education. It is through the arts that children learn constructive criticism, critical thinking, positive relationships and problem solving skills.

In August 2015 she accepted a job with the Gifted and Talented Support Services with the Gorham School Department. She is also currently seeking certification in the State of Maine to teach art in public schools. Please review our very creative students and their great work. https://sites.google.com/a/gorhamschools.org/sail/exciting-news-and-highlights From Feb. 2012 to Aug. 2014 her volunteer role as the Gorham Arts Alliance Vice President / Marketing Director proved to be just as rewarding as the GAA gained a space the Community Arts Center that would house classes for the first of it's kind in Gorham, Maine, the Ultimate After School Enrichment Arts Program for the Fall 2014/2015 School year. FMI please visit gorhamartsalliance.org From May 2011 to Feb. 2012, she volunteered as the Marketing Director for the Gorham Arts Alliance, a non-profit organization serving to enrich the Gorham Community by supporting the Arts. She sat in meetings, created all marketing collateral for advertising art, music and theater programs and events. She enjoyed teaching summer and after-school art classes, spoke at High School Visual Arts Symposiums, organizes and chooses art for the Young Artist Exhibit held at the Baxter Memorial Library in Gorham, ME and also assisted in many GAA events and fundraising planning, photograph, updating the Gorham Arts Alliance website, Facebook Page and created the initial marketing material for the Gorham Arts Alliance. DaraLyn offers private, birthday parties, and group art classes by appointment, after school and throughout the summer. |
